2 Shots of Hennessy

Thanks To
From Doug -
I often say, “The most meaningful things we have are relationships and stories”. To the friends, family, musicians, supporters and all those who have, over the years, come to listen; and to those who just happened to be there, but stayed, to hear us share our music and stories - Thank you.

2 Shots of Hennessy came into being about 12 years ago, but it’s origin goes back to 1991, when Dylan was born. Thank you Jody Sperling for birthing, raising and supporting our son, my brilliant, creative bandmate.

To Brad Zavislake and Merchants of Green Coffee for providing me, in the early days, a venue to play with fine musicians like Jack Connolly, Sandi Marie and Guy Breau. To the Acoustic Grill, under the leadership of Steve Purtelle, for providing a place over the years for me to play, which later, became the regular home where 2 Shots of Hennessy really took shape. To Olga, the “Auditory Angel” who restored my hearing aid capability for this adventure. And to my artistically talented siblings - Dave, Pat and Donna - thanks for your lifelong creative encouragement.

The journey to get here was never planned and charted. But I am grateful for that long, meandering path through my life experience - through the process - that led us to the generous hospitality of Laura and Louis in Moncton, New Brunswick. Thank you for it all.

Whether the decisions we make along the process are big or small, all we can control is the decision we make in that moment, and trust it’ll pan out into what it’s meant to be. When I made an impromptu decision to drive out east in September 2021, I never imagined it would lead to a whole new Maritime chapter of my life unfolding. To my friends I’ve made in New-Brunswick Nova Scotia & PEI, whether you helped me get a gig, hosted me in your home, on your couch, or even just came up to say hi, you made all the difference. And ultimately, I have you to thank for this album.

I want to thank my mom, Jody Sperling, and step-father, Neal Brooks, for their immense love and undying support in my endeavors over my life. To my brother Spencer Brooks, I like to think our brainstorming and my creative influence has come full circle as you now inspire me with your creative life and work. Thanks to Eddie Young and Mitch Begar for helping me navigate the east coast on my musical adventures.
To Eugene Draw and Chuck Coles, for your mentorship in my 20s in helping me find my way, and in time, my voice. I’m lucky to have such great models of what that looks like. To places like Free Times Cafe, Vapor Central and The Painted Lady, and so many more for having me on your stage and letting me develop my craft.
From Dylan -
To Our Producer:
We know that when you made the offer to Dylan in October 2023 to come out to Moncton and record in your studio, this was not the project you had in mind. I am sure you agree that you would not have wanted it any other way. You are the Wizard that elevated this father/son music project to a magical level with your skill, expertise, guidance and patience. You shaped the process and shaped the sound into something we will always be proud to share.
We are also deeply grateful to you and Laura for extending your hospitality to us in your home over the 9 day recording period.
Thank you
Dylan and Doug
