2 Shots of Hennessy

Lyrics
Dirt Rust & Stone
Once I was told:
“Youth is just a state of mind
Have another first
And it’s a new you every time”
But now I’m old
My youth was once upon a time
“My muscles must be lead”
I thought as I turned to the wine
Oh those growing pains
Got no Novocaine
I’ll try to find the young in me
Getting old got me cold
Feel the dirt inside my bones
Brain is made of rust and stone
And it’s home
Getting old got me cold
Feel the dirt inside my bones
Brain is made of rust and stone
And it’s home
And it’s home
Oh it’s my home
Once I was told
“Life is like an aging wine
Bittersweet in younger years
But the sweetness in due time”
But now I’m old
Years have passed, but still I find
Fruits of labour should be sweet
But the bottle’s running dry
Oh those growing pains
I’ve got no Novocaine
I’ll try to find the young in me

Life’s a grind, it’s getting the pull on me
I’m roasted and toasted, a big ol’ mean green bean
No more sugar in a life once bold
No refills when the cup’s gone cold, depresso
Depresso

I’m in hot water, the juice squeezed out of me
Only 2% to add and pushed through the machine
It’s a bittersweet taste when you want to go back
Either whiskey in my cup or I’m taking it black, depresso
Depresso

Dreamt of you in my bed last night
We had us a real good fight
When I awoke, life was tamping me down
‘Cause the pot’s gone stale since you’re not around, depresso
Depresso

Cappucino Frappucino gonna Mocha Latte outta me
Americano Macchiato got me frothing for my next caffeine
Cappucino Frappucino gonna Mocha Latte outta me
Americano Macchiato got me frothing for my next caffeine

No refills when the cup’s gone cold, depresso

The World is Not as Sweet
The sun rises every morning
But it caught me with no warning
That you would not be getting up
To feel the dawn’s warm beauty anymore
Now the lights are down in the bake house
And the world is not as sweet since you have gone
A wise man said to learn to let
What is unfair teach you that
Sometimes when good friends have died
That’s the time they reach inside and change your life
Now the lights are down in the bake house
And the world is not as sweet since you have gone
Reflections of a life so true
Examples that were set by you
What we shared, what we did not do
I can’t regret I knew you
And you moved on
Now the lights are down in the bake house
And the world is not as sweet since you have gone
The world goes on the sun will rise
From this field look through my eyes
And feel the dawn warm beauty on your soul
Now the lights are down in the bake house
And the world is not as sweet since you have gone
Now the lights are down in the bake house
And the world is not as sweet since you moved on

Allman Milk (instrumental)

It started with that girl
You know she birthed a living pearl
And I rocked you as an infant ‘til you slept
The grass has all grown long now
There are blackbirds in the pear tree
Had a ritual for Mother’s Day and wept
Search for meaning and reflect
Upon the sunset on the water
Before light and warmth are
Darkness and despair
Time and beauty are so fleeting
And I know that I am needing
Just to see your smile and have a laugh we share
and have a laugh we share
I took to the stage, you’re in the room
And adulthood it came so soon
But I love the old Magnolia when she blooms
You give ideas I give you mine
The thing we can’t get back is time
When our journey ends it will be too soon
Such a long time since Nintendo
Still my son but also friend though
Tables turned now you’re the one that’s rocking me
But Mustang Sally still can ride
Let’s put our differences aside
Raise a glass for 2 Shots of Hennessy
Just to See Your Smile

Life Will Be Better
My life has been in misery
Now I hear you're gonna leave
No matter how bad things get
Life will be better if you're not in it
Just lost my job and now you're gone
Ain't got no money to carry on
No matter how bad things get
Life will be better when you're not in it
Can’t get no credit down at the bar
They even repossessed my only car
Now you're gone but I can't smile
For trouble only lasts a while
Oh, Now I'm blue and I’m feeling down
But once you leave, you know baby, I'll come around
No matter how bad things get
I'm telling you,
Life will be better when you're not in it
Well, now I'm blue and feeling down
Once you leave, you know I'll come around
No matter how bad things get
Life will be better, when you're not in it

Strolling down the street with a smile on my face
Didn't have the courage to get up and leave that place
But she beat me to the punch, said "grab your things and let me be"
It was a blessing in disguise because I'm finally free
Freedom comes in many forms
And it came for me today
Now I’m singing
Strolling down the street with a smile on my face
They took away my job, thought I'd never leave that place
All those years I worked for them but it never worked for me
It was a blessing in disguise because I’m finally free
Freedom comes in many forms
And it came for me today
And I'm singing
When you're getting on the grind you can melt your mind away
Try to live your life but your life gets in the way
Pull the puzzle pieces out and find another place
Walk the streets with a smile on your face
Walk the streets with a smile on your face, and sing it
Blessing in Disguise

What a Wonderful World
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and for you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day the dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also the faces
Of the people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
I love you

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Sailor's Glory
I remember the days sailing with gentleman Jim
He showed me the ropes and sheeting them tore at my skin
If you want to learn, then speed up that tack
Don’t get blood on the sails, don’t let the line slack
Thirty-five years since I was crew for him
Where I learned a sailor’s glory comes from within
When Jim died, his boys and my brother and I took his boat
And we raced round Perry’s Tower with courage and hope
With Jim in the heavens, he guided my hand
Took our chance on the last leg and headed for land
The regatta was won, we’d done it all for him
And I felt that sailor’s glory come from within
Now I’ve won myself some races on oceans and lakes
But racing the worlds’ is not what makes you great
The prestige and the press, all the money the spent
I would trade it to do Perry’s Tower again
Jim’s kids, my brother, the tears upon that win
And the lessons of decades past taken in
In boats or in life, you drive through weather and waves
It’s something that Jim would do ‘til his dying day
It truly don’t matter your score or your place
learn from your mistakes and finish each race
persevere, be better, and humble, and race again
Oh, a sailor I’ll be, trusting my fate to the wind
And I know a sailor’s glory comes from within
A sailor’s glory comes from within
